While there are no specific pre-requisites, I do recommend that all students have taken or are enrolled in Algebra II/ Intermediate Algebra. Much of the SAT and ACT math sections revolve around principles learned in Algebra II. While I review many of these concepts in the class, students who have not previously been exposed to them will not gain as much from the review
Yes. I have found that students learn the most when they discuss the material with their tutor and practice it on their own. However, I know students are busy. I try to keep homework to approximately 1 to 2 hours per session. If a student would like additional practice, I am happy to provide extra homework. The more students put into their preparation, the more they will get out of it.
Every student is different. The amount of points a score may raise will depend on several factors: current level of understanding of SAT material, diligence in completing homework assignments, consistent attendance, etc. On average, students who complete the assigned homework raise their scores 100 to 200 points. I believe our class provides ALL of our students with the skills and confidence necessary to raise their scores. What they do with the knowledge they gain, however, is entirely up to them!

I use The Official SAT Study Guide. This book is published by the College Board, the people who write the actual SAT. It may be purchased online or at most bookstores. While I use this book throughout the course, I customize all of our classes based on students’ needs and give personalized instruction in the various subject areas.

Students won’t need any materials. I will provide links to practice test and study guides online.
Online tutoring is easy and convenient. Students will need access to a computer or laptop with a video camera and internet service. I connect with students using Zoom, a video conferencing website. Zoom allows us to see each other, use a whiteboard, share screens, and work on practice problems together. If you would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
